Safari Packing List

It is important to keep luggage to the barest minimum on safari as possible.

Luggage should be of round squashy type rather than suit cases that are difficult to fit into jeeps, try to use something that is

lockable and waterproof as luggage often end up loaded onto the roof of your Safari vehicle.

For budget camping, all camping gear will be provided.

Please Note:

On your inbound flight it is common that your checked in luggage arrives later after you have arrived, for some reasons.

Therefore donʼt check in items that you absolutely need on arrival. (e.g. Medicine).

Clothes

  • _Sun hat / a cap_
  • _T-shirts_
  • _Long sleeved shirts_
  • _Light shorts (cotton is preferable)_
  • _Long trousers (at least two pairs)_
  • _Sandals / flip-flops_
  • _Swimsuit (for hotel and lodges)_
  • _Warm scarf as it can get cold in the evenings_
  • _A jacket which is suited for safari_
  • _Hiking / walking shoes_
  • _If you are going hiking sportswear is preferable_

_For women: a sports bra can be preferable e.g. for hiking or safari_

_Note: Bright or white colors are not recommended for safaris. Try avoiding blue as it attracts Tsetse flies. Camouflage_

_clothing is strictly illegal in Tanzania try avoiding them so as not to get arrested._

  • _If camping: A towel e.g. a microfiber towel as these can be compact packed and is fast drying_
  • _If camping: Shower gel/shampoo/conditioner_

Medical supplies

_Medicine: We advise you to pack any basic medication that you may need as advised by your doctor_

  • _Insect & Mosquito repellant_
  • _Sun block and after sun lotion_
  • _Antiseptic cream_
  • _Malaria tablets_
  • _Pain killers_
  • _Motion sickness tablets_
  • _Anti-diarrhea medicine_
  • _Cold/flu tablets_
  • _Anti-histamine tablets_
  • _Prescribed medicine (must be packed in your hand luggage)_

_Documents: Securely bind all your travel documents together, make extra copies of your passports, travel insurance,_

_tickets, id card and leave some copies at home and take some with you, it is also a good idea to scan all of these_

_documents and e-mail them to your personal account, so you can access them anywhere in case of an emergency._

Items such as camping facilities (Tents, Tables, Chairs, Mattress) are inclusive of the package fee therefore not listed above.

Please Note:

We have all necessary gear needed for your climb at a reasonable rate in case you donʼt want to buy any at your home town.

Clothes

  • _Thermal bottoms – protects outer layers from moisture (at least 3)_
  • _Thermal tops – protects outer layers from moisture (at least 3)_

  • _For women: Panty liners can help keep underwear fresher longer_

Personal food items

_Note: we provide three meals a day prepared by your personal chef, so this is purely if you wish to have some extra snack_

  • _Ginger cookies or tea bags; helps reduce Acute mountain sickness (AMS)_

Medical items

  • _Lip Balm or Chap sticks or Vaseline_

  • _Small personal first aid kit (should be simple and light); Aspirin, first aid tape, plasters (band aid)_
  • _Anti-diarrhea tablets_
  • _Skin blister repair kit (antiseptic cream)_
  • _Acute mountain sickness (AMS) tablets such as Admil/Acetazolamide/Diamox – Diamox is highly recommended with_

_minimum side effects, but be sure to try them before hand to be sure if there arenʼt any allergic reactions._

  • _Analgesics; Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Aspirin, Tylenol etc._
  • _Cough and cold medicine_
  • _Sore throat medicine such as strepsils_
  • _Antibiotics for stomach infections (advice with your doctor)_
  • _Elastic knee support especially for those with knee problems during steep gradients_
  • _Malaria medicine_
  • _Insect repellent with Diethyltoluamide (preferably 30%) can be worn both during the night and during the day for_

_Note: For contact lenses wearers, bring extra supplies. As there is a lot of dust, you might want to bring glasses as a backup._

  • _Cloth pegs so as you can hang your wet clothes behind your backpack for drying if you wish to do so._
